Livergool and other Highlights

Oh yes... I can believe I would have been so happy for the A.C. Milan defeated at final match of the European Champion league!
I was supporting Liverpool because, a part from being guest of a group of English people or however Liverpool fans, A.C.Milan is Berlusconi's team... where Berlusconi is my hated prime minister of Italy! No worries, I'll avoid you any political comments!
But I believe the best was the way actually Liverpool won: Milan was winning 3-0, which makes a football match basically over... but not for Liverpool that unbelievably catch up in 6 minutes timeframe to eventually win at the penalties lottery: wonderful!!
(Beside that, as Italian, I must say: overall Milan deserved to win more than Liverpool!)

Shall I really talk about Eurovision?! I mean... seriously? No, no... I'm not going to talk about it... But now I know why Italy is not in it: find me an Italian who knows about Eurovision... Well, I do, now!.. It's a matter a quality I guess: Italians eat pasta, pizza and Ice-cream, Italians make clothes and shoes, Italians sing: nowadays those are all things everybody does, careless of which country or culture!! The difference, the unique selling point, is the quality!!
Anyway... I guess I'll interpret Eurovision as an element of the European culture, as somebody suggested me! By the way, congratulation to Greece, a country I left some feelings in and that won so much in the last year!
Ops... Did I talk about it?!

Fortunately my week has been much more than that. On last Thursday I spent a long afternoon with my team: first of all I found out that bowling is a stupid sport... and, by the way, I wasn't that good... after that we saw this "strange" (giving it a nice definition) movie: Constantine! Heaven and Hell, good and devil... definitely a movie to be forgotten, or not to forget to avoid watching it again. Last but not least we enjoyed our first open air barbeque, which I'm about to propose again to some friends!

Sunday it has been another cool day: wonderful weather, we took the chance to visit Tallinn zoo: it's never nice to see those animals in cages and far from their natural environment, but it was still a nice walk and good to see the polar bears huge and cute, the tigers, strange Asiatic horses and African monkeys.
After that we went to the old town to enjoy the sun lying on the grass... till the moment we met Eoin, Mark, Jason and some other friends and I add the chance to play some kind of tennis (with proper rackets and ball, but not in a tennis court) which turned to be a funny way to chase girls by throwing the ball close to them and ask it back... well: with some more comments on it included a special point system!!

Ehyyy... what about "Giro d'Italia" ? So great that I got a link to watch TV online... every afternoon I'm enjoying the Giro d'Italia, the bicyclist run around Italy, the Italian version of Tour de France (and second only to it for importance) Yeap! one day I should tell you about Bugno, Indurain, Pantani... What a great sport!

Tallinn Day

What is in somehow surprising about Estonia is that they seem to be really keen to social events and public celebrations! The Flag tradition for example: basically every building is equipped with the support for exposing the flag... I mean mainly the Estonian flag!

In order to avoid customization to the flag, the black, blue and white symbol of Estonia is blown by the wind only in special days. What is funny is that "special days" seems to have a pretty wide definition: you will see the Estonian flag also during the Mother day in May and the president birthday... or even for Baltic solidarity, like the Lithuanian and Latvian national celebration.
It may sounds a bit weird, but I actually learned to appreciate that: the flag shown out may underline the importance of certain days which tradition may be lost otherwise, and the solidarity with Baltic celebration tells a lot of the common history of the 3 Baltic countries!

The last public event I had the honour to take part in has been the Tallinn Day: a celebration created out of the blue, just to celebrate Tallinn. The nice old town has hosted several concert points and entertainment activities; the weather was great and loads of people were hanging around.
Folk music and a really cool Ukrainian band made people dance and even clap their hands!! Estonians are keener to dance than clap their hands!.. Not that easy to get applause over here (which is pretty frustrating for someone like me!)

The weekend has been signed also by movies: From Saturday till actually Wednesday I took advantage of the Spanish movies offered by the Spanish embassy in Estonia! We managed to see some nice movie.

Last but not least on Saturday night (yeap, I guess my next post should keep more into consideration the chronological principle!) I went to Scotland Yard: I was there with Viive, Rauno, Raffaella, Kaisa and Magda, (the last 2 being two polish girls trainees in Latvia who came to visit Tallinn)... It was Salsa night: oh, yeap? I'm definitely getting in to Salsa... I just got 3 lessons but I cannot complain about my dancing skills... and Salsa is definitely cool!!

Ookk! Probably I'll also need to work on the length of my posts!

Till the next,
Augusto
